| About the Artist
Jan majored in Education at the University of South Dakota at Vermillion, SD and
was an elementary teacher. She is a member of Beaux Arts, a volunteer
auxiliary of the Columbus Museum of Art.
Jan has studied with Margarite Barnes, who has her gallery in
Montgomery, Alabama; the late Marion Ryan, who became well known for her
portrait of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker; Robert Warren, who has a television
series and instructs at his Art Loft Gallery and around the world; classes
through the Columbus College of Art and Design; and many art and painting
workshops. She has achieved Instructor Certification from Alexander Art,
Koh-I-Nor/Grumbacher, and most recently with Winsor & Newton-ColArt Americas.
Currently Jan works in her studio using a classical approach
for landscapes from many trips to Europe, especially Great Britain, France,
Spain and Greece.
Teaching is done as a pleasurable method of oil painting.
Students learn about the basic materials and techniques used by many artists.
The goal is for all to be happy with their new skills. Knowledge is gained
that will enable everyone to continue their art of painting afterwards on their
own.
