| About the Artist
Karen has enjoyed painting in several mediums for the past 27 years: oils,
acrylics, watercolors, tole and fabric. Her activities include being a
student, teacher, gallery / studio owner and a traveling seminar instructor.
Karen grew up in the Mid West near Des Moines, Iowa. She has lived and
traveled extensively from the Orient to the Caribbean and has experienced first
hand the snow, rolling sea, landscapes as well as the floral which she designs
and paints on canvas, pottery and fabric.
Karen moved to Alabama in 1967, but started expressing in
craft and tole art in 1970, then moving into oils (1976) and acrylics (1978).
She studied with an internationally known master instructor, Milton Lenoir of
Phoenix City, AL. In 1983 she was selected from students nationwide to
attend studies at Auburn, Al. There she studied the techniques of teaching
Milton's method to others. Because Karen was in the top of her class, she
earned her title of Nationally Accredited Instructor. After retuning to
Auburn in 1984 to further her studies, she earned her Master Instructor Diploma.
After which, she opened her studio/gallery "Artistic Expressions" in Riverchase,
Al and began her full time career in sharing her love of painting.
Karen Moved to Florida in 1987 and is currently in Pensacola.
She teaches full time in her home studio as well as several local shops in the
area. When not in her Artistic Expressions Studio, Karen can be found
traveling the country teaching.
