| About the Artist
Evelyn Swanson was born and raised in northeast Ohio, the sharpest little corner
of the state. She always enjoyed drawing and is now fluent in oils, acrylics,
pastels and watercolor. Evelyn began in oils. She was introduced to watercolor
during her college days at Kent State University. It was love at first sight
and she knew that was her calling. She has taught it for 25 years.
After graduating from The Pittsburgh Art Institute in Pennsylvania at the age
of 50, she and husband, Roger, moved to Fort Myers, Florida so she could pursue
a career in graphic arts. During the time there she has held several offices in
the Fort Myers Art League and eventually their President. Evelyn is presently
in her 3rd term as president of Estero Art League in Estero, Florida
. Evelyn is a member of the National Organization for Teachers of Educational
Art Material, a member of Florida Watercolor Society and also The Southwest
Florida Pastel Society. Her second love is pastels.
Evelyn Swanson is an experienced watercolorist, who stresses the basic elements
of painting while giving the student one on one encouragement. The student will
have an understanding of composition, value and color mixing as they gain
confidence for leading the viewer to a dynamic focal point. Evelyn makes it fun
and easy to learn the techniques of watercolor as she patiently teaches basic
brushstrokes with example. Evelyn is a firm believer in helping students
develop their own style by encouraging their creativity and not to copy from
anyone.
The
objective in any workshop is to help the student enhance their ability to grow
as an artist. Classes can be arranged through www.artteachers.org or www.esteroartleague.com
or e-mail evswany@embarqmail.com
