Verna happened to be watching a PBS show which featured William Alexander.  She was intrigued to see him finish a painting in a half hour and sent for his book.  She joined his "fire In" Club.  From this newsletter, She found an ad for a week long painting seminar in Silver Falls State Park in Oregon.  That year, Verna painted with Robert Warren, Lowell Spears and Buck Paulsen.  The following year, Verna certified for the William Alexander Teacher's Program.  Verna has been teaching ever since.  She is also taking classes in Porcelain Dolls, sculpting classes, and has created a few original dolls. 

Verna is retired from General Motors Powertrain, She has been co-owner of Bee Creative in Oregon, Ohio.  After closing, I taught classes in her home studio. 

Verna has taught children's classes, taught a two-day seminar at Lourdes College in Sylvania, OH, and a 3-day weekend seminar in Majestic Point Store at Great Easter Shopping Center in Oregon, OH.  Verna has demonstrated painting in oils at Pat Catan's Craft Store in Eleria, OH, Michael's Arts and Craft in Toledo, and at Art Fairs and Craft Shows in and around Toledo.

Verna has been and continues to be an active member of the Great Lakes Region of TEAM.  Verna has held the office of Secretary and Treasurer of our region.  She attends all regional meetings and most district meetings at Pat Bell's Studio in Muncie, IN.  Verna attends all National Conferences and participates in all events.
