| About the Artist
I started dabbling in acrylics in
the early 1980’s when it was popular to paint on fingernails. Years later I
found Bob Ross and William Alexander on PBS and was fascinated with their
wet-on-wet oil painting technique. After watching them for over a year, I
finally bought supplies and instructional books and jumped in! When we
moved to East Texas, I found Carolyn Vandeventer teaching the same technique
and have learned much from her. I started teaching in 2001, which in itself
is a learning experience and very rewarding. It’s such fun to watch someone
who has never painted before finish the day’s class with a completed
painting they feel pleased enough with that they plan to hang it in their
home or give it as a gift. I keep telling everyone – all you need is the
desire to paint—you can do it!
I am a self taught artist and have
taken oil classes with Carolyn Vandeventer for five years. I have also
painted in oils, acrylics, and watercolors with Brenda Harris, Este Rayle,
Donna Bryant Waterson, James Gleeson, Karolyn Hawthorne, and Valerie Stewart
to name a few.
