Teaching was an integral part of Sharon's career.  She combined her personal endeavors with a busy schedule of teaching.  She studied at the University of North Carolina and the Art School in Chapel Hill,  North Carolina.  Other studies were pursued at the Durham,  North Carolina Art Guild and with private instructors such as Robert Rogge in Chapel Hill,  North Carolina.  As a result of varied learning experiences she  worked proficiently in oils  (wet on wet and traditional),  acrylic,  pastel,  watercolor and pen and ink.  She enjoyed painting a variety of compositions:  seascapes,  landscapes,  portraits,  still life,  wild life,  and floral  She was a guest instructor in Naples,  Italy in 1997.  She loved and shared   and the joy of seeing the twinkle in the eyes of a student who completed a picture.  Sharon believed painting to be the best therapy in the world.
