| About the Artist
Art
in its many forms has always played a large part in Paul's life. After taking
early retirement from the CNR in 1998, he returned to oil painting by taking
several Bob Ross classes here in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Within a year, he was on
his way to Florida to begin the process of becoming a certified Bob Ross
instructor.
He is the first person in Manitoba to be certified in all three areas,
Landscape, Floral, and Wildlife. This was the beginning of a whole new way of
life, as Paul then began to share his love of painting with students throughout
Manitoba. He and his wife Paula have seen more of their home province while
travel teaching than they had in the many years they have lived here.
Their travels are not confined to Manitoba, however, as they have also
traveled to California where Paul has studied privately with master seascape
artist Joyce Ortner, to Kansas where he has studied with country artist Dorothy
Dent, also with still life artist Elizabeth Pruitt; to Phoenix Arizona to paint
with acrylic artist Jerry Yarnell, and to Las Vegas, where he has taken classes
with a variety of artists. He has learned many different techniques from these
various artists, and now incorporates them into his own style.
Art, like life, is constantly evolving and changing. Similarly,
Paul's teaching style changes as he shares his learning and experience with his
students.
