| About the Artist
Rita Huscher has been painting for more than 20 years and is currently the
secretary of the South Central Region of T.E.A.M. Her interest in painting
started when she was babysitting a grandchild and entertaining her with a paint
by numbers kit. This sparked the flame for painting. Rita started going to
seminars and workshops, studying with Robert Warren, Bob Byerly, William
Alexander, Priscilla Hauser, Brenda Harris, Mary Carole, and many more respected
artists. She is a certified instructor for Gary Jenkins, Grumbacher, Winsor &
Newton, Bob Ross and William Alexander.
Rita has never stopped learning, even while being a busy mother of 2,
grandmother of 5, and great grandmother of 3.
Rita opened her first shop in 1980 in Basehor, Kansas and in 1992 she opened the
Art Barn in Bonner Springs, Kansas where she and visiting artists taught. She
also sold supplies and provided a gallery for her extensive artwork. The Art
Barn sold in 2005.
Rita now teaches weekly classes at The Art Shack in De Soto, KS (still Kansas
City area). Classes are in oil and acrylic in landscapes, portraiture and
animals. She also teaches monthly workshops in Laurie, MO at the Westside Senior
Center, and in Leavenworth, KS at the Council on Aging."
Rita loves everything about art and likes to share anything new with her
students. She works with all ages as well as all skill levels. No experience is
necessary to produce a beautiful painting in each class by following a step by
step method. For the advanced student, Rita offers helpful critiques and
individualized instructions that are bound to improve anyone's artwork. Her
classes and workshops are not only educational, but they are guaranteed to be
friendly and fun!
