Dorothy Dent,
always inclined to be artistic, has painted since childhood, and has been
involved in the decorative art world for 27 years. Born on a farm south of
Springfield, Missouri, she developed a love of old barns, water mills, cabins,
and rural settings. These subject matters, dear to her heart, comprise
most of the country landscapes for which she has become so well known.
Dorothy's studio and retail art shop, Painter's
Corner, Inc., is located in Republic, Missouri, (just west of Springfield and
not far from Branson). She teaches workshops and week-long seminars
thought the year here and around the country and abroad. Dorothy has
authored 24 books on landscape painting, as well as others that follow along
with two 13-week PBS television series which aired in the late 1980's.
As a nationally recognized artist, she travels
extensively in the USA, Canada, Japan, and Argentina, teaching her painting
methods both in oils & acrylics, in an easy to understand, step-by-step
procedure, allowing even beginners to complete paintings they are proud of.
Although Dorothy is best known for her work in oils, she also paints in acrylic.
Two of her recent books are done in this medium, demonstrating that her style of
painting can be adapted to both.
Dorothy is also a contributing artist and
advisory board member for various painting magazines for which she writes
instructional articles from time to time. She occasionally enjoys painting
commissions pieces as time permits.
