Michael Cheek was raised in a small mountain town in North Carolina called Boone.  At an early age he was interested in art.  At the age of 24 he took his first painting class.  In 1993 he became a certified instructor with the Alexander Art Company.  Through that  came many opportunities to study with master artists, Brenda Harris, Robert Warren, Buck Paulson, Lowell Spears and Este Rayle   He has also studied with Lynn Pittard and Dorothy Dent.  He is now a member of TEAM which is an independent group of art teachers from all across the country, who specialize in all mediums and various styles of art.

Michael has developed his own simple techniques for anyone who has never painted before to create a painting in one setting. Painting has truly fulfilled his life and his goal is to help as many people possible realize if they have a dream, they too can do the same.

Michael currently lives in Taylorsville, North Carolina where he continues to teach local workshops as well as traveling to neighborhood towns and cities in still life, landscapes, seascapes and floral.
