Kathie Camara is a self-taught, professional
artist. She has always followed artistic pursuits, taking classes
over the years from artists such as Bill Alexander, Bob Ross, Ros
Stallcup, Priscilla Hauser, Peggy Harris, Donna Dewberry, Brenda
Harris, Terry Madden, Valerie Stewart and many more too numerous to
mention. While still working, she taught painting classes part
time, encouraging her students to create their own home décor and
wall murals. She exhibited her wall murals and home décor pieces in
numerous arts and crafts shows.
Upon retirement from the corporate world in
2002, she started teaching more classes in her home studio and at
local craft stores and art centers and painting more on canvas.
Currently she accepts commissions of wall murals, home décor,
portraits and pet portraits. She is also involved in face painting
and teaching others this unique art form at seminars. Kathie says,
“When a painting or mural turns out well, I am elated. I know that
a piece has turned out well when someone looks at it and smiles
because it has brought back a happy memory to them.”
In addition to exhibiting her work and teaching
classes and seminars at local Art Centers, she sponsors and
coordinates workshops in her area (west of Orlando, FL ) with many
“Big Brush” oil, acrylic and watercolor artists. A T.E.A.M. member
since moving to Florida in 2004, Kathie is currently the Editor of
The Stroking Edge, Donna Dewberry’s quarterly online magazine for
One Stroke students and instructors. |
