Joan began her painting career in the late 1980's. She began painting with TV artist Brenda Harris who later certified Joan to teach acrylics.  Joan had been teaching acrylics since 1987.  She believed that painting should be fun and makes certain that her students have a good time

Floral, landscapes, seascapes, and wildlife are a few of the subjects that she offered.

Joan certified to teach oils.  She studied with many well known artists such as wildlife artist Fred Wetzel, William Alexander, Florida Highwayman, George Buckner, Robert Warren, Lowell Spears and Buck Paulson.
