| About the Artist
I started painting, in oils, about 19
years ago. My first 15 years of painting were in oils, painting Tole and
Decorative Painting (emphasis on the decorative). We did everything from
t-shirts to leather, canvas to wood and everything in between. In 1996, I
decided to try my hand at acrylics. I did that for about 2 years and it
was really an experience. It was so different from oils. Just
recently I learned wet-on-wet in acrylics, and that does make it a little more
like working with oils. But I still think that I enjoy oils more.
Then, in the summer of 1998, I was
driving past a studio in Arvada, CO and stopped in to take a peek (and stayed),
and that's when I started painting larger oil paintings on canvas. I
have taught a few classes at this studio, which has since moved to Westminster,
CO. I also organized, and taught a weeklong kid's class last summer. I
have taken several instructional classes, over the years, from instructors in
Colorado, and throughout the states. I am currently living in Lakewood, Colorado
but I own 35 acres west of Trinidad, CO (near Weston), and am hoping to start
building my permanent home there, within the next couple years. I have
lived in Colorado since 1978. I'm originally from White Bear Lake,
Minnesota.
I am an
Associate member of the ColArt Artist Network, Piscataway, NJ, and a member of
the Palatteers Art Guild in Westminster, CO. I was juried into the Corazon
Gallery, Trinidad, CO in December of 2000. Painting has always been my stress
reducer. Once I get started, I have a hard time stopping until I’m done.
(But, are we ever done ??)
I have been in a number of judged shows from early 1999
through the present. I have had the wonderful experience of having solo
shows, and have had my work displayed at a number of Arts and Craft fairs, and
numerous art shows throughout Colorado and New Mexico. I do commission work
whenever given the chance, and have thoroughly enjoyed the number of portraits
that I have painted this past year.
