| About the Artist
Linda was born and still lives
in Oxford, NC. She has always had a love for anything artistic, including,
knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, sewing, cake decorating, gardening,
landscaping, and now painting and clay modeling.
After drawing for many years
with colored pencils, she decided to broaden her knowledge by taking oil
painting classes from the local community college under Dot Overby. She not
only taught her many techniques but also became a personal friend and
mentor.Over the years she has received instructions from other artist including
Este Rayle, Brenda Harris, Terri Clements, Ken Wallen, Norma Poulos, Carol
Hagerman, Shirley Chipman. Helen Blair, and others.
Although her main median is
oil, she also works in acrylics, watercolor, and clay modeling. Using these
mediums she creates portraits, landscapes, flowers, and impressionistic
paintings in various sizes. She has done many commissioned pieces, including
painting wall murals in newly constructed homes.
She has entered many local art
shows, winning numerous honorable mentions and a first place last year. She
also has judged a statewide art contest at the community college.
Linda has a studio behind her
house where she paints, displays her art, and teaches both children and adults
in oil, acrylics, and watercolor. She is available for workshops and
demonstrations.
“God has given me many talents
and with His help I would like to share them with as many people as I can.”
